El Manguito

El Manguito kis falu a kubai Sierra Maestra áthatolhatatlan erdejében. Tizenkét ember lakja, elvágva a külvilágtól, áram és járható utak nélkül: Idael, a családfő, Nelcis, a felesége, a gyerekeik, barátaik és testvéreik. A család mindennapjait követő film ismeretlen világba vezeti be a nézőt, és bemutatja a Kubában mélyen gyökerező szocialista rendszert. Heti ötször tanító érkezik El Manguitóba, hogy oktassa Idael legkisebb fiát. De míg az oktatást biztosítja az állam, sok más dolgot elhanyagol.

Ugyanarra megyünk

Serazhedin, a kirgizisztáni Bishkekből származó nyugdíjas katona és fia, Rakhman, ugyanarra vágynak: tisztes életet élve szeretnének biztonságot nyújtani a családjuknak. Ehhez mindketten messze utaznak az otthonuktól. Serazhedin autókat hoz Kirgizisztánba Litvániából Oroszországon keresztül. Rakhman időnként az apjának segít, de amúgy egy szibériai város, Tomszk kórházában dolgozik, és közben európai praxisról álmodozik. Mindkét férfi elszántan küzd, és a kihívásoktól sem riadnak vissza. A film mélyre hatolva figyeli meg a posztszovjet térben megjelenő komplex túlélési stratégiákat.

El Manguito

El Manguito is a small village in the inaccessible woodlands of Cuba’s Sierra Maestra. Twelve people live there, cut off from the outside world, without electricity and drivable roads. The film follows Idael and his friends and family through their everyday life, including the education of Idael’s youngest son by an outsider who makes the journey to El Manguito five times a week. While education is provided, many other things seem to be neglected. Travel to the unknown world of El Manguito and see how deeply rooted the socialist system is in Cuba.

We're Going The Same Way

Serazhedin, a retired military officer from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and his son, Rakhman, share a desire to provide security for the family and to live a dignified life. To achieve this, both have to travel far from home. Serazhedin earns a living driving cars from Lithuania across Russia to Kyrgyzstan. Rakhman occasionally helps his father and works in a hospital in the Siberian city, Tomsk, while dreaming of having a practice in Europe. Both men are strong-willed and ready to face challenges. The film is an immersive observation of the complex survival strategies in the post-Soviet space.
